iOS Passcode

Overview

For better security, you can set a passcode that must be entered each time you turn on or wake up your device.

Setting a passcode turns on data protection using 256-bit AES encryption.

Set a passcode

1. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode or Settings > Passcode (models without Touch ID.
   
2. Set a 4-digit passcode.
   

Increase security

1. Turn off Simple Passcode and use a longer passcode.
   
2. Enter a passcode that's a combination of numbers and letters. If you prefer to unlock using the numeric keypad, create a passcode using numbers only.
