Overview
MTL_RPTD_TIME_VS_STDHRS_BW is a public query that was created to help timekeepers prevent under/over-reporting, and possibly over-paying, a biweekly employee's hours. This query does not work for Punch Time departments.
This query compares the hours reported for an employee against the standard number of hours in the employee's Job Data. If there is a positive variance, the hours are over-reported. If there is a negative variance, the hours are under-reported.
How Reported Hours Are Calculated:
- Hours included = Regular (REG) hours, plus the following:
- Hours that reduce REG hours without reducing pay (e.g., sick, vacation, PTO, Jury Duty).
- Hours that reduce REG hours and reduce pay (e.g., Excused time without pay, Unexcused
Time).
- Hours NOT included = Any hours that add to pay or leave balances (Overtime, Overtime Added to PTO, Holiday 1.5 Rate).
How Standard Hours Are Calculated:
- Standard Hours (for one week) in Job Data times two.
- Note: The standard hours used are those effective in Job Data as of the pay period end date.
Range of Dates:
- For accurate variance results, you must run this query for a complete biweekly pay period. If you run the query for a partial pay period or for more than one pay period, the variance results will be inaccurate.
- Note: The query results will not be accurate for employees who had a mid-pay period effort change.
Examples
- Mollie Pstrain has a job with 40 Standard Hours per week. During the pay period ending August 25, 2007, Mollie had the following number of reported hours.
- 48 REG – Regular pay
- 24 VAC – Vacation Pay
- 72 Reported Hours (48 REG + 24 VAC)
- 80 Standard Hours (40 Standard Hours times 2 weeks)
- -8 Variance, under-reported by 8 hours
