Overview
A Program value within a ChartField combination is a five-digit code that represents a revenue or expense activity (e.g., cost centers, academic programs, etc.) that a department wants to track for financial reporting purposes. There are three types of Program values:
- Alpha: Centrally defined Programs that apply to activities conducted by departments and offices University-wide. (E.g., ADMIN = Administration)
- Alpha-numeric: Program values that were carried over from the Legacy system or from other systems that interface with M-Pathways. (E.g., TRM3A = Term III A)
- Numeric: Unit defined Program values. (E.g., 11159 = GSA Tuition Grants – Music).
A department may use any Program value to track activity, including numeric Program values that other units have defined. Use the Program value whose description most closely relates to the type of activity you are tracking.
