Overview
This procedure covers how to change your Preferences in BusinessObjects from HTML to Applet.
The default Web Intelligence View and Modify preferences are HTML, which will meet the needs of most users. As of March 2018, you no longer need to switch to to Applet (Java) to create or edit a report with subqueries, use an Excel file as a data provider, or create conditional formatting,
Notes:
- You cannot use the Java Applet:
- On a Macintosh. The workaround is to use Virtual Sites to connect to a U-M Campus Computing Sites Windows computer, open Internet Explorer, log in to Wolverine Access, and launch BusinessObjects. You can then follow the steps below to switch to the Applet. Here are detailed instructions for accessing Virtual Sites.
- In Chrome. Chrome no longer supports Java. For details on supported browsers, see the ITS web page on Browser and Desktop OS Support.
- There are additional Preferences settings. For example, under General > Set document viewing location, you can choose to open reports as tabs or in a new window.
